This was my first wedding of the 2012 season. I was really looking forward to it, mainly because I knew it was going to be a terrific party, and a bunch of fun, but also because I have grown to love Kelly and Darrell, and their family. I always consider it the greatest of blessings to get to know my clients so very well, so that I’m less a photographer, and more a friend who just happens to have a camera- everything always seems to go so well when that happens and there is this great level of trust built through the whole process that just makes the whole day run more smoothly.
For Darrell and Kelly’s wedding at the Shady Wagon Farm, it was a cool, cloudy day- which to me is perfect photography weather. Christin was my gracious 2nd photographer for the wedding, and we had a great time bouncing in between the girls and the guys to capture images while they were getting ready. The wedding was held on the lake, in front of a floating gazebo/pergola, where Kelly and Darrell’s close friend was ordained specifically so he could perform their ceremony. I kept telling him he did a great job and should go into doing it as a side business, he was that good, but he claimed he didn’t like public speaking. Well, at least it’s an option if he needs it :)
After the wedding, we shot some formals up on the grassy knoll, and then went to PAR-TAY in the Barn and Pavilion at Shady Wagon Farms, where we enjoyed a totally terrific meal by Catering by Design of roasted veggies, mashed potatoes (they were so good, I could have eaten the entire vat!), Caesar salad, chicken, and roast beef with choice of sauces. Christin and I about died eating the roast beef with the caramelized onions and horseradish sauce.
And then the nice progressed nicely with toasts, some cake smashing, some fancy dancing… and just a great time by all! Below are some of my favorite images from Kelly and Darrell’s wedding. Be sure to head all the way down to the bottom of the post where there’s a slideshow of my favorite moments!
